It happened: the French baguette has been officially recognized as a cultural world heritage. This was announced by the UN organization Unesco yesterday. In honor of that, we collected our favorite recipes based on the crusty bread, and some dips that go great with it.
The demand for recognition was louder every day in France. An estimated six billion baguettes are sold there every year. Dreams come true, and the product was hereby added to the list of intangible cultural heritage. President Macron, who supported the application, even described the loaf tin as “250 grams of magic and perfection.”
Speaking of grams, not everything is just a French loaf: according to the law (and the rules of the art), a baguette must weigh at least 80 grams and be a maximum of 40 centimeters long.
With or without a scale and measuring rod: a crispy baguette is always delicious, whether as the main ingredient or to dip into a creamy dip. In other words, the ideal opportunity to list our favorite recipes.
